December Update 2016

I’m sorry that I will be unable to release Book 3 this month. I think most of you agree that you would prefer a good book rather than one that is quickly written. Book 3 is going to be a bit longer than expected, but I think few will complain. Hopefully, you will find it to be just as exciting and intriguing as the first two.

(If you commence cabbage throwing, please toss in a bit of corned beef and soda bread so I can make a meal of it.)

Frequently Asked Questions:

Question: How soon will the audiobook be released after the ebook?

Answer: I try to release the ebook as soon as it is ready. This means that I will send it to the  audiobook publisher (Podium Publishing) for recording at the same time, and hopefully it will meet with their scheduling. I expect the audiobook will be released within a few months of the ebook.

Question: When will the books be available in print?

Answer: I have been unsatisfied with the self-publishing options that I have researched to date. I am still considering the best options to bring the series to print, including traditional publishing.

  1. Can we have an idea when the next update is coming out, that might hint at the next release? I’ve read both books a least six times, THIS IS THE BEST SERIES I have ever read. Thank You for all your hard work and effort.

  2. OK have now listened to both Audio books more than I have any other series. 4 times each in less than a month, obsession is definitely a term used to describe my affliction. These books are some of the best I have had the pleasure to experience, they rival works by Weeks and Sanderson!

  3. With my work I’m able to listen to audiobooks roughly 10 hours a day. Usually finishing 3-4 books a week. Of all the books I’ve enjoyed this series is the only one that had me wanting to listen even while at home which I avoid doing so I can get other things done. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this series and cannot wait for the rest of the story. The only negative thing I have to say is how cut off the first two book ending felt. There was no wind down or cliff hanger. They simply ended nearly in mid conversation like the second book. Other than that I thank you for the wonderful fantasy world you have created and allowed us to enter through the eyes of the Rez.

    • I appreciate your kind praise. Thank you for visiting my world for a while. If I could write as quickly as I imagine, you would never lack for something to read. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

  6. Man I hope this series continues past book 3. I cannot get enough! My only complaint is I can only subject myself to the brutal teaser that i feel is the ending of book 2, only so many times. I must know what happens next! Please finish book 3 so we can continue to gorge ourselves on this spectacular world!!

    • I like your enthusiasm for the series. I’m glad I could provide you with some entertainment, especially when you’re deployed away from home. You said “deployed,” so I assume you are in the military. I appreciate your service and that of your fellow service members. Thanks for writing.

  10. December release or soon after…I would really love an author to come through once in a while on a release date…now every time an author gives a date I know to just disregard.

  11. Truly one of the greatest series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Also never stop using Nick as your voice actor because he is simply marvelous!!

I would wait a long time for this next book so I hope you are not feeling pressured by our frantic clamoring to see a release date. Also I hope there are at LEAST another 9-12 books in the series 😉

    • Thank you so much for your kind words. I don’t know about 9-12, but there will be several more. Don’t worry, though. I have a growing list of already of more than a dozen other books that I am eager to write when I have the time. Hopefully you will like them as well.

  12. I just finished the series and I say it is without equal that I have read. Well, listened. Yes, Nick’s performance on Audible is outstanding. Just before this series I read… listened, to Brian Stavely’s Chronicle of the Unhewn Throne. This book was So much better to me. And I thought Brian’s was the greatest. I am blown away at how you cater to what I want to see in a world. Thank you Kel Kade, you inspire me to write something others might enjoy so much.

    • I have been mourning that detail, as well.

And I would rather wait on pins and needles for an awesome book than have him serve up a less than stellar one. This little wait will only make savouring the next one that much sweeter. 😍

  14. Loved book 1 and 2!! Like everyone else I am looking forward to book 3. But I am of the opinion that it’s better to wait a little longer and get your best work again!

Will book 3 be the final chapter of a trilogy or does the story continue after book 3?

  15. Since I only listened to it on audio book I’m not sure of the spelling, but I’ve been trying to find a picture of what ‘sukarai ‘ look like. That is the one weapon I did not get a good mental picture for. Some kind of spinning blade weapon.

    Also,
    /throws cabbages.
Did that help with book 3 release?

  16. Please don’t pull a Rothfus! I’m sure he wants to write a third book of such perfection that he’ll never get around to finishing his trilogy. I would rather read a good book rather than wait forever.

    Like

    • I feel like Rothfuss may have written himself into a corner and Stone Door can’t work without some Deus Ex Machina. Which could be why it’s taking so long and not living up to his expectations…

Just my speculation from the peanut gallery where I’ve rarely written a good paragraph let alone anything else.

  17. how’s that December release date going? well you can’t take any longer than Martin at least. a rough estimate for release would be cool so I can plan on taking time off work to read book 3.

  18. 60 years of reading fantasy. Embarrassing? Yet your first book rivals ‘Enders Game’ in the cruelty we inflict on our children in the name of defense. You read Skinner. Few authors can make a reader fall into the psychological angst of a protagonist. The plot is ingenious, the writing exceptional, but please get spell check.
Don’t cater to your audience, write from your heart and mind, and take care of your child. Live well.

  19. I am not normally a reader of fantasy books because after Lord of the Rings I have usually found them disappointing, but I have thoroughly enjoyed these two books and I think I’m addicted now! I don’t think I can bring myself to read any other fantasy series whilst waiting for book 3 so I’ll just have to be patient.

    • I’m glad I could entice you over to the dark side, at least for my books. There are a lot of great fantasy series out there, but I admit that I have often been disappointed as well. Thank you for taking a chance on KDT.

  20. Kel, I have never written to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we read, or why we watched TV. All that matters is that we waited read. That’s what’s important! Reading pleases you, Kel… so grant me one request. Grant me a third book soon and many more besides! And if you do not listen, then the HELL with you!

Can’t wait for Book 3. So excited!

Ps. Dont go easy on Marcum hehe 😺

  22. I must say, I did not expect to get so entranced when I began this setier. I had been looking through reviews for a new sci-fi or fantasy and your name poped up. I was unfamiliar with you but the reviews if the first book were outstanding, so I bought it.

At first, I thought I was going to be bored by this big man who was totally confused about society. It seemed like a slow start. I kept reading and must have been half way through the book before I realized how much I had been drawn into the story. Upon completion, I immediately began the second book. I enjoyed it immensely! I only wish I had discovered you later, so I may have had no wait for your third book. I am an impatient reader!

Thank you … but do hurry. 😮
