  2. Just finished a entire re-listen of the three books and I have to admit they have to be one of the best series I’ve ever listened too. Hopefully I can now pre-order this book in audible.

  3. Excited for the new book. Art in the eye of the beholder and all that but I’m not a huge fan of the new cover. The first book cover is what caught my attention while looking for books and in my opinion is still the best.

  4. All of the books are amazing and bring joy and anticipation to all fantasy readers out there. It is only fitting that the best fantasy series next to the works of Brent Weeks and Brandon Sanderson, have equal measure in artwork. Well Done, I cannot wait to read KD4 as many times as I have read the other three (25 to be exact, just can’t get enough)

  6. WOW! This looks amazing!

I am really hoping that Rezkin returns to is old self as he continues his adventure. I really did not like how it started to go crazy in Cael and keep secrets from me as the reader. (I have always felt that I knew what he knew, until Cael.)

Either way, I will still read it! And excitedly.

    • Yes, get him away from Cael something is taking hold of our beloved Rez and it all started when he left the tournament, but got so much worse when he got to Cael.

You’ve stressed him out enough Kel let him be the Rez again.

      • I also agree with tbe idea of Rezkin getting away from Cael, ‘cuz I dislike of him just barking orders all the time once *SPOILER ALERT* he became the king. Once things are done, Rezkin should fake his death or something to leave Cael and continue his adventure, for there are more countries to travel to, more places to infiltrate, and more people to kill *evil smile*. Hehehehe.

  7. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your KDT’s series and I’m eagerly looking forward to your fourth installment, kingdoms and chaos. That said I find the artwork inconsistent with the first three books. Not that I feel the “Rez” shouldn’t be revealed, but honestly, I’ve been unable to reconcile the heavy boned Nordic looking brut with the tall, lithe, muscled, stately adonis caricature I’ve imagined as the Rez.
I vote for an image makeover!

    • Gino, you may be right here. The image is pretty Nordic looking – almost fat. A save is warranted. In the last book, he was “hungry.” So fat doesn’t work here. Kel, may I suggest giving the artist some descriptions from book 1 to hone the look. In my opinion, Rezkin is a cross between a young Cary Grant and James Dean with a slight bad boy Jack Nicholson quirk to the eyebrows. Ditch the fat Erol Flynn look. Go to the internet for great pictures of Cary, Jack, and James. They have a slight bad boy and possibly dangerous look. The artist needs to nail this. Yes, I’m getting high cheekbones and square chin with small chin cleft (not strong). Also, Rezkin is described in books as darkness and cold. So tone the hair down a shade or two. Blond and Nordic are cold but not dark. I hope my 2-cents helps.

  8. I can’t wait for the next book! This is one of my favorite series, I have even introduced my children to Deal on and they love it too. As far as the cover goes, not at all a fan. The other three covers are much better. This one is just missing something. Too rough looking?

  9. Hi, I was glad to receive an update. Not sure what to make of book 3. I was sorry to see Rez loose more of his enthusiasm and naivete . It gave light hearted touches to grim scenes. I know it was necessary for him to mature but L miss it. Good luck and blessings on book 4.Rose

  10. The kitten is the key. Still Rez. I thought Rez fought a multiarmed monster in book three. Can’t wait for the next book so many possibilities.

  11. Is the book and audiobook planned to release at the same time. I hope he is not delaying the book release till the audiobook is ready. Too many authors do that now a days.

  12. All praises to the “Writer God of the Sky.” Kel has awakened and is sticking to what he knows best – Rezkin. I got a little worried for a minute there. I’m looking forward to your next installment. I’m a voracious reader, so 1,000 pages are just fine with me. Take care and keep coming up with that prose.

  13. The art work is very well done but not true to the description of the Rez. You described the Rez as very tall, a warrior’s build, pale skin with very black hair and blue eyes. If the cover for the new book is the cover revealed it does not do justice the the Rez as described by you.

  14. I love, love this Series, I hope book 4 is not the end to the series. I am sure it is not there is to much chacter development and plots to be resolved. I like the new chacters introduced in Book 3. Still do not understand why Palis in died in Book 2, but hope at some point he is resurrected.

    • For Jean,

“Not too much character development”? Are you sure we were reading the same book? You need to go back and reread the book because you weren’t paying attention. Finding out the truth about Rezkin, finding Cael and all the mysteries associated with that are causing character development. Pallis’s death caused character development.

Speaking of Pallis, his death while sad was not unexpected. In fact it was quite predictable. Think about the characters on the ship, all but Pallis, Sheila, and a couple soldiers have no real role among them. Pallis least of all. His major contribution to story was as Malcius’s and Sheila’s brother. Granted, he could have become more in Cael, but it always felt as if his character was meant to die at some point in the story. To cause grief, to make the others think more deeply, therefore causing character development on an emotional level. As for resurrection, remember that he was buried at sea. I don’t think you would like how that would play out. In my opinion, his soul has moved on.

As for the cover, it’s awesome! Rezkin has in essence “come out of the closet” in relation to being the True King of Ashai and Cael to certain people. Books one and three are darker and shadowed, depicting the Raven more. Books two and four are lighter and revealing him as the Warrior King. I personally like that the covers are representing the duality of his most prominent identities. His hair is still black, his eyes are still blue, his skin is still pale. The lightning and warm tone of the picture is just causing a little imbalance for you. All you’re seeing is the warm light reflecting off the natural highlights in his hair. As for his skin tone, it’s the same as the rest of the picture, it doesn’t mean that he’s gotten a dark tan. And zoom in on the eyes, you can see a blue tint. Calm down everyone.

If I’m wrong about some of my opinions, Kade you are most welcome to tell me otherwise.

  15. Kade,

I love your books! I spend quite a few days, for hours, every week in my car and your audiobooks are literally my “go-to” books to listen to when I’m tired of listening to others. I have listened to them well over a dozen times each. I cannot wait until the book is available in both formats. And hopefully Nick Podehl will lend his voice once more because at this point it would truly be a travesty if someone else does. Can’t wait to discover more of the world you’re creating around Rezkin.

So here’s a toast to book four, Kingdoms and Chaos! May it not be even close to the last book and just as delightful as those that came before it!

I’m so pumped to see where things go. I hope Rezkin managed to patch up his relationships with his friends. I have this sneaking suspicion that one of them will betray him (possibly Malsius).

The characters, the plot, the mystery. It’s all so well done.

You are a master writer Kel Kade and you can’t write this book quickly enough.

  19. This cover looks so cool. I’m super excited about the next book. I can’t wait to read this book several time. The cover also kind of scares me. I have so many questions about it and I am excited to have the aha moment when I read about what it means in the story. Thanks Kel Kade for this amazing series.

  20. I think Caydean is under control of a demon, hence he is trying to spark war between ashai and other kingdoms thus weakening humans and making it easier for demons to take control of the realm.
