15 Feb February 2017 Update
❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️
In honor of this love-sharing day, I thought I might come out of my cave to give you guys a much-requested update. Some of you ask, “Kel, have you even started the book?” Yes, yes, I have. I’ve written over 400 pages of KDT goodness (or darkness—however you want to look at it). But, it’s not finished, and I prefer not to guess at a release date because you will undoubtedly be upset if I don’t meet it. Honestly, I work better when I don’t feel the pressure of an impending due date.
I am often asked which other books I like that are like KDT. In lieu of releasing Book 3, I have prepared a list of fantasy books by other authors that you might enjoy. You can find this list under the new “Suggested Reading” tab on my website. The list is far from complete, but I could probably go on for days. (Disclaimer: For most of these, I’ve fallen behind in the series and haven’t read all the books. I’ve been busy. 😎)
Please feel free to comment and add your favorites to the list!
(Remember to mark posts containing spoilers with **SPOILER** before the rest of the comment.)

Posted at 18:41h, 10 MarchSeems like something happened in the writing process, because you seemed pretty confident with a December 2016 release, and now it seems as though the third book is out indefinitely, or “until it is finished”
Do you ever worry about losing readers who forget to continually keep up with series updates?

Posted at 20:44h, 10 MarchIf you read the post, I think it sounds more hopeful than confident, which was not unrealistic at the time. I decided to take the story a different direction than originally intended for the third book, though, so it requires more time. There’s no point in worrying about losing readers. If they want to read it, they will–if not, they won’t. I’m not going to trade a good story for instant gratification.

Posted at 14:46h, 15 MarchI did read the post hehe
I say confident, becasue you said if not Dec then “soon” after, that has an air of confidence to me, hence nearly finished. But it is your book and you are definitely able to do as you wish with it.
Thanks for the reply, love the books.
P.S. I hope you also know people with critical questions are usually the people that have the greatest love for your books.

Posted at 19:53h, 19 MarchNow I am extremely curious about what you originally intended. perhaps a few weeks after the third book is published, you could give a short overview of what you initially planned to do?

Posted at 10:34h, 08 MarchAbsolutely amazing books. I am absolutely craving the next one.
The momentum and mystery of the protagonist makes me yearn for more. This is seriously one of the very few series I can get lost in.
Hope the process is going well! Having no release date is a smart move; perhaps it’ll make for an excellent surprise as well.

Posted at 20:44h, 10 MarchSo glad to have captured your attention for a while. I’m glad you like the story.

Posted at 21:47h, 05 MarchRemember Kel, sleeping is for losers. Kidding. But… if you do decide to forgo sleep, that is about an extra 8 hours a day you can write!
Btw, whatever happened to the blacksmith and I am so curious about his reaction and if he attended the tournament.

Posted at 20:49h, 10 MarchYou reminded me that I have a pillow I might want to visit. Thanks.

Posted at 23:54h, 03 MarchHello Mr. Kade! I am a senior Biomedical science major from Kentucky and I have not had much free time this semester or last, but when I did, I invested what hours i could into your books. I just want to say thank you for helping me keep my sanity by giving me an outlet like the Raven. Don’t feel rushed on finishing book 3 because you can’t put a due date on perfection! Continue to do good work, for you’ve got a great network of fans enjoying what you do!

Posted at 21:01h, 10 MarchI’m glad I could entertain you in the hours between your biomedical toils. Hopefully the Raven will expand his influence in Kentucky. Good luck in school.

Posted at 04:29h, 03 MarchThe first book was 483 pages and the second book was 587 pages, so I estimate that the third book will be approximately 690 something pages. so by the time this update was published, he was approximately two-thirds finished. Assuming that he began writing as soon as the second book was published, January 2016, then he has about five months left.
Of course, I am only guessing as he could possibly publish the third book tomorrow. the only reason I am doing this is because I like numbers. I once calculated the size of a fictional planet based off of time traveling distances given in an anime because I was bored. so don’t take this too seriously.

Posted at 21:06h, 10 MarchYou have entirely too much confidence in my consistency.😏

Posted at 03:43h, 14 FebruaryFew questions. One what anime. Two what planet. Three what was the distance. I actually want to know. 🙂
