February 2017 Update

❤️ Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️

In honor of this love-sharing day, I thought I might come out of my cave to give you guys a much-requested update. Some of you ask, “Kel, have you even started the book?” Yes, yes, I have. I’ve written over 400 pages of KDT goodness (or darkness—however you want to look at it). But, it’s not finished, and I prefer not to guess at a release date because you will undoubtedly be upset if I don’t meet it. Honestly, I work better when I don’t feel the pressure of an impending due date.

I am often asked which other books I like that are like KDT. In lieu of releasing Book 3, I have prepared a list of fantasy books by other authors that you might enjoy. You can find this list under the new “Suggested Reading” tab on my website. The list is far from complete, but I could probably go on for days. (Disclaimer: For most of these, I’ve fallen behind in the series and haven’t read all the books. I’ve been busy. 😎)

Please feel free to comment and add your favorites to the list!

(Remember to mark posts containing spoilers with **SPOILER** before the rest of the comment.)

So I started game of thrones while waiting for the third LTD to cone out (WOOT!). There is a reference to an ashai in that series, any connection?

This is probably sacrilige to fantasy fans, but I haven’t had the time to read or watch Game of Thrones. I think I watched the first season years ago when it came out. I don’t remember there being an Ashai. Now, I can’t start because I know I’ll get caught up binge watching and won’t get my own writing done. Also, I don’t want GoT to influence KDT.

It’s spelled slightly differently, Asshai vs Ashai. No info on it besides it being a seaport and exotic locale.

How did you think you were going to get it done by December if there is clearly still so much that needs to be finished?

As long as you doesn’t pull a rothfuss most readers are more than happy to wait for the polishing to be completed. I am looking forward to book 3 and will purchase the entire set when it’s finished. I frequently read series multiple times to catch the missed details but KKC has finally cured me of buying into series that aren’t complete. Continue with the wonderful writing you have already done.

Sorry if this has already been addressed but will you be releasing the Audible narration when you are done with the third book?

Every day I check, just hoping that maybe that today is the day for book 3. Every day I’m a little saddened but heartened that you are taking the time to make a quality book. I love this series, I’ve read and listened to both books numerous times during my deployment and I’m eagerly waiting for the third book.
