Kel’s June 1st Update

Kel’s June 1st Update

To all ye who, upon my browser, post missives of frantic necessity, I have heard your cries and here seek to provide knowledge of that which is much desired.

For a while now, I have been working two jobs (sometimes more) in addition to working (and it is work!) as a full-time single parent. As you can imagine, writing has been a bit slower than I would have liked. Thanks to the support of my readers and the amazing success of the KDT series, I am taking the plunge and am now writing full-time! I hope to finish a few more books this year, including the much-anticipated Book 3. I have been loathe to estimate a release date because I don’t like making promises I can’t keep, so we will see how my full-time writing progress goes!

That leads me to the next update. I am spending no small amount of money to have Books 1 and 2 professionally edited in anticipation of theie release in print! Many people have asked for print editions to add to their collections, and I am honored for my works to be included. These should be available by the end of the summer. Book 3 and all subsequent books will also be professionally edited prior to release. (Disclaimer: Future release dates may be delayed due to scheduling with the editors.)

On that note, I would like to thank my awesome readers for identifying and putting up with my errors. Some people question why the books were not professionally edited in the first place, and I think this is a good place to point out that it can cost upwards of $2,500 for light editing and proofreading by a reputable editor for books of this length. Many new self-published authors, who have no idea how their books will be received, will never be able to recoup the cost. Please remember, if you are purchasing a book for only two or three dollars (or perhaps even free), you are getting a good deal compared to what you would pay for a book published through a major house that employs a multitude of professional editors. Be kind to new self-published authors.  The kind of amazing support I’ve had from my readers can seriously help to improve the final product, as I am doing; but overly harsh reviews for some relatively minor errors can be discouraging. I feel like I’m preaching to the choir, though, since you guys are awesome!

Finally, recording for the audiobooks is scheduled to begin this month. I will update you all with an audiobook release date when I receive one from Podium Publishing.

Warm regards,

Kel

P.S. I heard a rumor that KDT may also may be getting some new cover art. 😀

P.P.S. A buddy of mine finished running the London Marathon last month. He’s not a professional athlete or anything of the sort. He’s a guy who decided to push himself for a good cause. I am so proud of him. His fundraising efforts go toward the fight against childhood cancer. If you would like to donate to the cause, please check out his fundraising page here!

I have read your books several times and very much enjoyed them and though I know you don’t have an actual release date, do you perhaps have a loose idea of when you hope to be finished with the third book? Early fall? By the end of the year? Keep up the good work!

For those hating on Frisha, keep in mind her upbringing. Also, keep in mind how much time has elapse and what she so far has been exposed to. If she does grow, I want it at a realistic rate. There is something I want her to grow into and that is Reskin’s confidant. He has a strong mage, swordsman and woman, a healer, and a best friend that helps with errands. Face it, it would take her years to be proficient with any weapon, she does not possess magic, and she is not a violent person.

Honestly, I am okay with Reskin shielding Frisha from a lot of traumatic events thus so far as best as he was able to. If she transitioned too quickly into Reskin’s world, it would have likely caused mental and emotional instability. I want to let her grow.

Please more on Reskin’s adventure as the Raven!

Lastly, when is the audio book coming out? I thought July but is it going to be in August or later?

I really enjoyed these books, and the story pulls you in like no other, I have been reading fantasy novels for a very long time and this ranks up there with the very best authors. I know there is more to Frisha , she is naïve but she will grow I just know it, hopefully she will be with Rez (I like one woman kinda of guy) and be able to hold her own as well as be able to aid in the in the experience and journey.
