Kel’s June 1st Update

Kel’s June 1st Update

To all ye who, upon my browser, post missives of frantic necessity, I have heard your cries and here seek to provide knowledge of that which is much desired.

For a while now, I have been working two jobs (sometimes more) in addition to working (and it is work!) as a full-time single parent. As you can imagine, writing has been a bit slower than I would have liked. Thanks to the support of my readers and the amazing success of the KDT series, I am taking the plunge and am now writing full-time! I hope to finish a few more books this year, including the much-anticipated Book 3. I have been loathe to estimate a release date because I don’t like making promises I can’t keep, so we will see how my full-time writing progress goes!

That leads me to the next update. I am spending no small amount of money to have Books 1 and 2 professionally edited in anticipation of theie release in print! Many people have asked for print editions to add to their collections, and I am honored for my works to be included. These should be available by the end of the summer. Book 3 and all subsequent books will also be professionally edited prior to release. (Disclaimer: Future release dates may be delayed due to scheduling with the editors.)

On that note, I would like to thank my awesome readers for identifying and putting up with my errors. Some people question why the books were not professionally edited in the first place, and I think this is a good place to point out that it can cost upwards of $2,500 for light editing and proofreading by a reputable editor for books of this length. Many new self-published authors, who have no idea how their books will be received, will never be able to recoup the cost. Please remember, if you are purchasing a book for only two or three dollars (or perhaps even free), you are getting a good deal compared to what you would pay for a book published through a major house that employs a multitude of professional editors. Be kind to new self-published authors.  The kind of amazing support I’ve had from my readers can seriously help to improve the final product, as I am doing; but overly harsh reviews for some relatively minor errors can be discouraging. I feel like I’m preaching to the choir, though, since you guys are awesome!

Finally, recording for the audiobooks is scheduled to begin this month. I will update you all with an audiobook release date when I receive one from Podium Publishing.

Warm regards,

P.S. I heard a rumor that KDT may also may be getting some new cover art. 😀

P.P.S. A buddy of mine finished running the London Marathon last month. He’s not a professional athlete or anything of the sort. He’s a guy who decided to push himself for a good cause. I am so proud of him. His fundraising efforts go toward the fight against childhood cancer. If you would like to donate to the cause, please check out his fundraising page here!

Awesome! How about starting a kickstarter project for an editor.

I want to be a papa hawk that helps support his fledgling and let them fly.

When I see you stalking your prey like the predator you are meant to be, it makes me proud. Go on the hunt and claim more fans to feed yourself . Just don’t eat me!

I anxiously await book 3. Reading your books reminded me that there are still talented authors out there…

This is amazing news! Your first two books had me sitting on pins and needles until the end of the book and i’m excited for round 3. Your a great author and I’m sure you will be twice as successful now that you are a full-time writer.

    Best Wishes,

I am glad to hear that book 3 is coming. I have read books 1 & 2 just three times. I look forward to Rezkin’s further emotional development. I love the way you have written all of the misunderstandings and miscommunications. Awesome read. Marilyn

This is such good news. I stumbled upon the books by accident and I was very pleasantly surprised. I think both books are my favorite books I’ve read so far, I read each in a day, and then proceeded to read them both again in 2 days just 4 days later. I enjoyed them so much I just had to read them again!

I can’t wait for them to come out as a print edition, it’s an instant purchase for me, and I am even more excited for book 3, whenever it comes out!
