Kel’s June 1st Update

Kel’s June 1st Update

To all ye who, upon my browser, post missives of frantic necessity, I have heard your cries and here seek to provide knowledge of that which is much desired.

For a while now, I have been working two jobs (sometimes more) in addition to working (and it is work!) as a full-time single parent. As you can imagine, writing has been a bit slower than I would have liked. Thanks to the support of my readers and the amazing success of the KDT series, I am taking the plunge and am now writing full-time! I hope to finish a few more books this year, including the much-anticipated Book 3. I have been loathe to estimate a release date because I don’t like making promises I can’t keep, so we will see how my full-time writing progress goes!

That leads me to the next update. I am spending no small amount of money to have Books 1 and 2 professionally edited in anticipation of theie release in print! Many people have asked for print editions to add to their collections, and I am honored for my works to be included. These should be available by the end of the summer. Book 3 and all subsequent books will also be professionally edited prior to release. (Disclaimer: Future release dates may be delayed due to scheduling with the editors.)

On that note, I would like to thank my awesome readers for identifying and putting up with my errors. Some people question why the books were not professionally edited in the first place, and I think this is a good place to point out that it can cost upwards of $2,500 for light editing and proofreading by a reputable editor for books of this length. Many new self-published authors, who have no idea how their books will be received, will never be able to recoup the cost. Please remember, if you are purchasing a book for only two or three dollars (or perhaps even free), you are getting a good deal compared to what you would pay for a book published through a major house that employs a multitude of professional editors. Be kind to new self-published authors.  The kind of amazing support I’ve had from my readers can seriously help to improve the final product, as I am doing; but overly harsh reviews for some relatively minor errors can be discouraging. I feel like I’m preaching to the choir, though, since you guys are awesome!

Finally, recording for the audiobooks is scheduled to begin this month. I will update you all with an audiobook release date when I receive one from Podium Publishing.

Warm regards,

P.S. I heard a rumor that KDT may also may be getting some new cover art. 😀

P.P.S. A buddy of mine finished running the London Marathon last month. He’s not a professional athlete or anything of the sort. He’s a guy who decided to push himself for a good cause. I am so proud of him. His fundraising efforts go toward the fight against childhood cancer. If you would like to donate to the cause, please check out his fundraising page here!

So happy that you are able to write full time now! As a mother of 5 I can appreciate how little time is available in any given day. I can’t even explain how obsessed I was with your two books. They fall into the category of what I like to call ‘the bad mom books’. Like, I can’t play a game or make dinner right now because I can’t stop reading… Thank you for such emotionally compelling writing! Good luck with book 3 and the audible versions.

I’m always excited to hear that someone is enjoying my books as much as you. Thank you for the kind message and encouragement. I feel like a success every time someone says he or she couldn’t put them down.

I am an avid reader and have taken a few attempts at trying to write myself with no great success lol. But there are a few book series out there that I am on pins and needles waiting for. I happened to stumble upon KDT when looking for other books to read while anticipating the release of a few others. KDT is now on my top 3 of eagerly awaited releases. I can’t express how much I want this book and I am really hoping there are more than 3. The characters in this book are too great to just let go.

Thank you! I am very happy to hear that you are enjoying the series so much. I am definitely planning more than 3 books in the series! I hope you continue to enjoy them.

I’m truly in awe that you can write these amazing books while working and being a parent. It makes me feel like a serious underachiever. So happy you can now focus on your writing and thrilled to hear you believe you’ll finish book 3 this year. I’ll be waiting!

Thank you, Amber! I appreciate the encouragement. Truth be told, I didn’t start out to write a book series. I started writing as a way to deal with stress and express my creativity. It was only when I had nearly finished that I decided to share my story with others! I am the one in awe of the amazing support from readers like you!

Make sure you bring the print edition and audio to Europe! Loving the books in Ireland. If you ever need digital marketing help to increase your readership or reach get in touch. I want a lot more KDT and of course there is no charge!!

Maybe I should bring them myself! I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland. Not to worry, though. The books will be available online. I haven’t done any marketing aside from operating this site, but “no charge” sounds like a good deal. I’m glad you’re enjoying the books! Thanks for reading.

No worries !!! Don’t rush, keep the quality super high!! I’d be lying if I said I’m very patient and can wait as long as it takes when in reality I want the next installment NOW !!! KDT and Reaper Inc are by far my two fav series. Think I mentioned earlier I’m a retired Police Officer and really enjoy the logic displayed and the justice meted out. Our society seem to suffer with a lot of law and very little actual justice. Keep up the good work ! Thanks for keeping us posted Fan in Florida Tommy K
