Kel’s June 1st Update

Kel’s June 1st Update

To all ye who, upon my browser, post missives of frantic necessity, I have heard your cries and here seek to provide knowledge of that which is much desired.

For a while now, I have been working two jobs (sometimes more) in addition to working (and it is work!) as a full-time single parent. As you can imagine, writing has been a bit slower than I would have liked. Thanks to the support of my readers and the amazing success of the KDT series, I am taking the plunge and am now writing full-time! I hope to finish a few more books this year, including the much-anticipated Book 3. I have been loathe to estimate a release date because I don’t like making promises I can’t keep, so we will see how my full-time writing progress goes!

That leads me to the next update. I am spending no small amount of money to have Books 1 and 2 professionally edited in anticipation of theie release in print! Many people have asked for print editions to add to their collections, and I am honored for my works to be included. These should be available by the end of the summer. Book 3 and all subsequent books will also be professionally edited prior to release. (Disclaimer: Future release dates may be delayed due to scheduling with the editors.)

On that note, I would like to thank my awesome readers for identifying and putting up with my errors. Some people question why the books were not professionally edited in the first place, and I think this is a good place to point out that it can cost upwards of $2,500 for light editing and proofreading by a reputable editor for books of this length. Many new self-published authors, who have no idea how their books will be received, will never be able to recoup the cost. Please remember, if you are purchasing a book for only two or three dollars (or perhaps even free), you are getting a good deal compared to what you would pay for a book published through a major house that employs a multitude of professional editors. Be kind to new self-published authors.  The kind of amazing support I’ve had from my readers can seriously help to improve the final product, as I am doing; but overly harsh reviews for some relatively minor errors can be discouraging. I feel like I’m preaching to the choir, though, since you guys are awesome!

Finally, recording for the audiobooks is scheduled to begin this month. I will update you all with an audiobook release date when I receive one from Podium Publishing.

Warm regards,

Kel

P.S. I heard a rumor that KDT may also may be getting some new cover art. 😀

P.P.S. A buddy of mine finished running the London Marathon last month. He’s not a professional athlete or anything of the sort. He’s a guy who decided to push himself for a good cause. I am so proud of him. His fundraising efforts go toward the fight against childhood cancer. If you would like to donate to the cause, please check out his fundraising page here!

I really like your books. Just a random note from a german reader: I don’t know if it’s something you intended, but frisha is basically useless and unlikeable. She really doesn’t offer a lot. She’s not particually pretty, intelligent or strong. She’s unreasonable jealous and really kinda silly. The only logical reason for Rez to like her at all, is that she’s the first girl he met. I still hope he’ll find someone more suitable. Really hate frisha. You gotte kill her off. She’s the king Joffreyof this book. Can’t wait for her death. Would be a great plot device to develop Rez as a Character as well.

I understand why you are hestitant with a release date or ANY information on when the next book will come out, but providing a general idea on when the next book is scheduled will go a long way in making readers happy.

    regards

I disagree that Frisha is useless. She is attractive, as is shown by the fact the Rezkin acknowledges it multiple times, and Tieran makes the comment about how she would look better without a dress, showing that he thinks she’s attractive too, and at that time he was a stuck up son of a duke, so he would likely have high standards. Also, I think Frisha helps Rez understand how most people act. Saying all of that, I think it would not be unreasonable for Frisha to be killed off as Yserria is now available, via Palis’ death. He just I think has to make sure that general marcum isn’t alienated by her death, as that would make it nearly impossible for Rezkin to receive support from the army.

can’t wait for book 3, can you please make rez more untouchable, invisible and impossible to defeat, hahahaha,
that at least one my favorite character for the protagonist, since it hard to find other novels with the protagonist with overpower skill
after reading book 1 and 2, side character in book 1 seems getting more and more useless, like tam and frisha, hahaha, but i don’t mind it
the other reason i like very much this KDT, because are one of the few novel, with straight line from chapter to chapter with the main character, not jumping around for 1 main character to another, every chapter, can you imagine if the novel have 4,5 and 6 main character, and have to jump every chapter with each main character, wew, it very frustating, when about to enter the tense moments, when open new chapter, it became anti climax, because had to shifted to another main character
if i watch in movies or tv series it’s not a problem but if i read it, it become a problem, hahahaha

oh sorry for my bad english, i’m from indonesian, some say when i speak or write in english, it similiar to MASTER YODA, 😀

Kel you are a truly talented story teller with a deft touch between the broad strokes and details. I have re-read each book and have become more of a fan. Your grasp of internal logic working in conjunction with the growth and development of Rezkin and the world you created is mezmerizing to behold. I cannot wait to read what unfolds next. Take your time to continue producing outstanding work that blends together all the hues you have adroitly mixed.

You are too kind! Thank you for your eloquent remarks. It’s a pleasure to have someone show so much appreciation for my efforts. I hope I can maintain and improve upon the quality with subsequent books.

I commend you Kel for the tough journey you have chosen to tread. Your writing will lead you to easier roads for you and your family, I have no doubt. I am excited, as many are, to own your series in print. I have a growing library and only my favs are put on display. Thank you for sharing your journey and pointing out to the ‘picky readers’ as I like to call them, that writing and editing are two different worlds and it is the story that matters. Errors pointed out are helpful but harsh comments wear on the soul, but don’t give up. It only gets worse, but the good fans will keep you rolling. Take care.
